This is a full day river excursion, based on the book "ROOTS" written by the famous African-American author, Alex Haley. From the hotels we proceed to Banjul Harbour, where we will join our motor yacht for a 3-hour cruise along the river to St. James Island, which was used as a base during the Atlantic slave trade.
Afterwards, we proceed by boat to albreda, a major colonial trading post along the banks of the river. From albreda, there is a 10 minute walk to the village of juffureh, the ancestral home of Kunta Kinteh, an enslaved African whose bravery has resonated throughout history.
tide permitting, we will stop for a swim. we will then cruise back to Banjul harbour where our transport awaits to take us back to the hotels.
